The department of Sanskrit was established of the college in the year 2015, starting with B.A.General course in Sanskrit under 1+1+1 regulation of University of Calcutta. Honours in degree classes were opened in the year 2018 with 25 seats under the CBCS (Choice Based Credit System) that is introduced by the University of Calcutta. At present the Department is following CCF programme as per the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 prescribed by the University.
Sanskrit language is an ideal language for every human being. It is not only language but like a vast ocean of knowledge. Just like crossing the ocean is difficult, the infinite knowledge of Sanskrit literature is also difficult for common people to understand. Our aim is to make students fond of Sanskrit for that ocean of knowledge and to reconcile the ancient Indian literary society with the present literary society.
INFRASTRUCTURE FACILITIES:
We have our own departmental class room. Students can use college library and newly subscribed database (N-List – National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly content) to collect the books they need.
TEACHING METHODOLOGY:
To improve students learning, teachers adopt student centric teaching learning methods, such as- group discussion, lectures using blackboard and question answering method, project work, tutorial, assignments, computer-assisted learning etc. In classroom teaching, our focus is on student’s academic progress as well as their personality development.
DEPARTMENTAL AND SPECIAL ACTIVITIES:
The department organizes many academic activities for the development of students, like- Add-on course, Remedial class, Online class, Seminar, making Model question-answer book (with all the syllabus of every Semester).
